About Cassia Obovata for Hair
Cassia Obovata also known as neutral henna, is known for hair strengthening and conditioning but contains chrysophanic acid, which may give light hair (grey, white, or blonde) a soft pale yellow tone. On blonde hair, Cassia enhances brightness and shine that leaves a warm golden glow and therefore known as blonde henna hair dye. Cassia colour is temporary and does wash out.
On dark hair, Cassia does not change the colour but provides excellent conditioning, shine and strong hair.

How to Apply Cassia Obovata
(Please read all notes before applying)
Mix the Paste
Combine Cassia Obovata powder with warm water or acidic liquid until you achieve a thick custard or yoghurt-like consistency.
- Blonde Hair Dye – mix with acidic liquid or chamomile tea, let the mixture sit for an hour or more to develop. Note: using amla powder with cassia at the same time, may give a wheat colour instead of golden.
- Strawberry Blonde – mix with henna powder.
Mixing with Henna – Henna is colour-dominant over Cassia, so add small amounts of henna gradually until your desired shade is achieved. Cassia can be combined with henna to achieve:
- Blonde tones
- Light copper
- Bright copper-red
For Hair Conditioning and strengthening – mix with water and apply to hair immediately.
Apply to Hair
Section the hair and apply the paste evenly from scalp to ends.
Cassia can be applied to either freshly washed or unwashed hair.Wrap Hair
Wrap hair tightly with plastic wrap to keep the mixture moist and warm.
Processing Time
Leave on for approximately 45–60 minutes. The longer the more beneficial.
Rinse Out
Rinse thoroughly with water or wash out using chemical-free or sulphate-free.
